Mariann Banks, 92, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on July 16, 2026. Born October 8, 1933, Mariann’s life was marked by steady devotion to family, faith, and the quiet joys that make a home feel whole. She had a quiet personality but loved to visit one on one with people.
Mariann attended Robinson Junior High and East High School, building the foundations of a life defined by constancy, care, and thoughtful presence.
On December 14, 1951, she married Jack E. Banks. They first met while Mariann was working as a carhop at a drive-up restaurant—an early moment that grew into a lasting partnership. After she got married, she worked at Beech Aircraft for several years while Jack was in The Army, meeting those years with resolve and a strong sense of responsibility.
A long-time member of Central Christian Church in Wichita, Kansas, Mariann’s faith and commitment were enduring. In her everyday life, she found meaning in simple, beautiful pursuits: she loved to read, paint, bird watch, and plant flowers. Above all, she loved her dogs and her grandchildren, and she took deep pride in the family she helped shape.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Marian Asmann; her brother, James Asmann and her grandchild, Angela L. Neal.
Mariann is survived by her children, Stanford G. Banks and Dana L. Neal; her grandchildren: Alisha D. (Jason) Illian, Shawna C. (Buck) Morris; Luke D. (Ivy) Neal, Alaina (Zach) Mackay and Jeremy (Breanna) Banks; her great-grandchildren: Braxton L. Morris, Corban L. Morris, Leah K. Morris, Reign C. Illian, Sage A. Illian, Rogue N. Illian, Hope A. Neal, Samuel D. Neal, Bentlee Swartz, Nora Mackay, Mila Beckman and Parker Banks.
A private family service will be held.
