Marie Elizabeth Henry, of Wichita, KS passed away January 15, 2021 at the Catholic Care Center in Bel Aire, Kansas. Marie was born November 11, 1923 on the family farm near Chapman, Maine to parents George and Bertha Staples. She attended grade school in Chapman and graduated high school at Mapleton, ME. Following graduation, she worked at the pharmacy in Presque Isle, ME where she met a young member of the Army Air Corp named Homer Henry. He was stationed there while undergoing bomber training in B-17’s at the local airbase and on September 18, 1942 they were married. After the end of WWII, Homer returned from the Pacific and they made their home in Cheney, KS where they raised two sons, Don and Steve. Marie became manager of the local Farmer’s Market and Homer made a career in oil production. Both she and Homer were active members of the Trinity United Christian Church while they resided in Cheney. Marie is survived by her sons, Donald (Karla) of Wichita and Steve (Lana) of Midland, TX; along with 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Pauline; and brother, Edwin. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Wilbur and Elwood; and sisters, Mona, Eveleine and Marian. Due to COVID, family graveside service will be held at Resthaven at a later date.
