Martha Jeanne Sabourin

Martha J. Sabourin, 82, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at the Wesley Woodlawn Hospital in Wichita. Martha Sabourin was born Martha Jeanne Vancamp in Wichita, Kansas, the third child of Howard and Elizabeth Vancamp.

Martha graduated from Wichita West High School in May of 1959 and was married a week later to Walter Sabourin. Martha and Walter raised two sons, Richard and Timothy, moving several times to five different cities before settling in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Martha was a homemaker and bookstore manager, working at The Book Rack (later called Book Alley) in Tulsa until she retired in 2011. She was also an avid Bridge player, PTA member, football, baseball and soccer mom, President of OnStage Youth Theatre, and youth group leader and active member of both the Aldersgate and St. Matthew’s Methodist Churches.

Martha moved back to Wichita in 2013 to live with her sister Mary McKown. She loved being back in her hometown and treasured the time spent with her sister.

Martha is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Elizabeth, and her brother Lynn.

Martha is survived by her sister Mary; her son Rick and his wife Delia; her son Tim and his wife Karen; her six grandchildren: Angela and partner Greg, Rachel, Ricky and wife Shonda, Heather, Ashleigh and partner David, and Rosalyn; and her eight great-grandchildren: Riley, Melady, Landon, Jeremiah, Poppy, Olliver, Luna, and Augustus.

Cremation has been requested. Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
