Marvadeen McCracken, 81, of Wichita, Kan., entered eternal life at her home on Sept. 1, 2024. Born to parents Roy and Ida (Covington) Greenfield on April 22, 1943, in Parkland, Okla., Marvadeen graduated from Agra High School in 1960 as a salutatorian. She married Robert “Bob” McCracken on May 5, 1961, in Parkland, Okla., and they shared a loving marriage until his death in 1997. After moving to Wichita, Marvadeen was a homemaker for many years but later worked at the Wichita Area Technical College in admissions until her retirement in 2014.
Marvadeen is preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters, Zeola Wilkinson, Gearl “Sis” Wright, and Karen Linder; and brothers, James Hopper and Earl “Bud” Greenfield.
She is survived by her son, Kevin (Serenity) McCracken of Wichita, and two daughters, Jodi (Kirby) Case of Cahone, Colo., and Ashley (Kyle) Christy of Wichita; nine grandchildren, Masen (Courtney) McCracken of Haysville, Kan., Hayven (Colton) McCracken of Wichita, Air Force Senior Airman Tyler Case of Anchorage, Alaska, Kale McCracken of Wichita, Kailey (Lucas) Chapman of Delta, Colo., Connor McCracken of Wichita, Cody Case of Cohone, Colo.; Maddox McCracken of Wichita, and Cassidy Case of Cahone, Colo.; and two great-grandchildren, Crew McCracken of Wichita, and Aidan Montes-McCracken of Haysville.
A visitation for Marvadeen will be held Friday, Sept. 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. at DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary, 201 S. Hydraulic St., Wichita. The funeral will be Saturday, Sept. 7, at 10 a.m. at the Church of the First Born, 3742 S. West St., Wichita, with burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery, 6231 W. 47th St., Wichita.
