Mary Alice Fields Boone

Mary Alice (Fields) Boone, 85, a resident of Wichita, KS, departed this earth to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, October 4, 2013. She passed away peacefully at “Healing Hands” home with her loving caregivers by her side. Mary Alice was born in Wichita Falls, TX on April 22, 1928 to Verna May (Freeman) Fields and Ray Russell Fields. Mary had one brother, Dawson “Freeman” Fields, 91, who currently resides at Reflection Ridge Independent Senior Living in Wichita, KS. Mary Alice married her sweetheart, Joe Paul Boone on January 21, 1951. They married just two hours apart of their best friends, Jack and Peggy Bradley whom they loved and remained close to throughout their lives. Mary Alice attended and graduated Sentinel High School in Sentinel, OK. Later, she attended training at the TWA Corporate Headquarters’ Building in downtown Kansas City. Mary Alice worked for TWA, but found her career in a civil service role as an Executive Administrator for the Officer’s Training School at Fort Sill in Lawton, OK. Mary Alice was an admired and highly recognized Administrator at Fort Sill receiving multiple awards for her work achievements during her 25-year tenure. Over the course of her lifetime, Mary Alice resided in Wichita Falls, TX; Dalhart, TX; Sentinel, OK; Lawton, OK and at last, Wichita, KS where her brother and niece live. Mary Alice and Joe Paul Boone enjoyed many things during their life together which included their family, friends, dirt biking, motorcycling, gardening, and bird watching. Their greatest enjoyment, however, was found curled up on their lap at the day’s end. Both loved the little dogs that they had during the course of their lives. “Mini” their 13-year-old Chihuahua survives both and lives with their niece in Wichita, KS. Mary Alice Boone is survived by her brother, Dawson “Freeman” Fields of Wichita, KS; Nieces, Jana (Fields) Utter of Carmel, IN and Rhonda (Fields) Hermanson of Wichita, KS; Great Nieces, Alexandra Utter of Bloomington, IN; Mary Margaret Utter of Carmel, IN; Callie Riggs of Wichita, KS; Great Nephews, Andrew Utter of Carmel, IN; Pvt Jeffrey Utter of Fort Sill, OK; Caden Riggs of Wichita, KS; and Joel Riggs of Wichita, KS; Nieces, Deborah (Boone) Phillips of Ovilla, TX; Claire (Fuller) Martin of Springfield, IL; Nephews, Paul Fuller of Bailey, CO; Great Nephews, Kyle Foster, Jake Foster, and Tim Martin. Mary Alice is predeceased by her husband, Joe Paul Boone, who passed away August 18, 2011, and by both of her parents, Verna and Ray Fields. Per the wishes of Mary Alice and her belated husband, Joe Paul Boone, there will be no memorial service. Memorial Donations, however, may be made to the Kansas Humane Society, 3313 N.
