Gosh, I just discovered that Mary has passed.  She impact my life...She certified me and my faculty for my Connecticut dance studio in 1980's at NYC for her Brighten your day "the aerobics way"  Aerobic Fitness program.  I still have her manual...RIP great Lady...

Mary Mayta inspired me to become a college cheerleader and then a certified Aerobic Instructor to this day! Her memory will always be with me. My heart goes out to the family and everyone who knew her....much love always.

I am so sad to read about Mary. My Husband and Mary both were born in December and same year. My Husband passed away on February 25,2014. A big loss for all of us. I learned so much from her.

We were so sad to hear of Miss Mary's passing. She was one of the sweetest ladies you will ever meet. My daughter took dance lessons at MGM and Miss Mary truly loved her students. She gave so many students in the community a chance to dance and grow and express themselves. We are truly sorry for your loss.

Thanks to your mother, and her wonderful MGM studio,we have a talented high school senior dancer! She took her first lessons at MGM and first competition year where she 'got the bug' with kind encouraging teachers.   We moved to Overland Park 10 years ago, and she was determined to continue competitive dance.  This is her last year of both studio and school dance team captain.  Thank you Mayta family for the great foundation in dance! I'm sure Mary is smiling down on all her happy dancers!

Mary was a wonderful lady; we first met her in Colby in l967 and were so impressed with her talents.  She has made a lasting impression on 100's of young people and her legacy will live on through her family.

So sorry to hear about your mom. She was one of a kind. I remember when she first came to Colby and entered in the talent contest. She blew us away with what she could do. She was abolutely amazing!!

Terry and Steve, Mike and Val, I am broken hearted to be writing here to you again, so soon. Mary Mayta had a huge impact on me, on my life. From the days when we all did aerobics together, and tapped along with her and her never ending energy and style and contagious smile, the workshops and OH the jump roping and fashion shows! She always had something to teach; and you know, one of the biggest lessons was to never be afraid to step outside the box and GO FOR IT. She was such a great example in inner strength. Something she instilled in me thirty some years ago was her unique "lamron eb yhw" attitude...I have held to that and gleefully passed it on to my girls, and now grandkids! My life has much more color in it because your delightful mother was in it. I am beyond sorry for your loss. Mike and Terri, part of her has always been in you in the joy you express to the world, and she will forever be in your heart...moms have a way of sticking around that way. I hope in the coming weeks we can have a chance to visit. In the meantime may God keep his arms around you, and  I pray for friends and family to comfort you. Much love...

What a beautiful woman to have graced my life and my sisters as well.  We all developed such a great sense of pride and accomplishment when learning from Miss Mary and Miss Terrie.  Into adulthood I often look back at the simple love she was able to give her students.  She will forever be a part of my heart.

Dear Mayta Family,
Such a precious light has gone dim. Mary will always be a very special person in my life. The lessons she taught were not all about dance. She was able to teach life lessons that as students we didn't realize we were learning. Will always have a bit of her with me. Thank you Miss Mary for the gifts.

Teri, Mike, and family. I am sorry for the loss of your mother/grandmother. I hope the memories of good times past will help you get through this time of sorrow and loss. I have always remembered fondly my time growing up in Colby and how funny and energetic Mary was.  I also enjoyed my brief visits with Mary at Maize HS and when she was in the hospital over the last few years. Our family, including my mother send our deepest sympathy to all of your family.

Mary's love for dance will live on through the many dancers she touched.  I will miss her smile, laugh, and sense of humor!

Mary started me on my career teaching Aerobics at the YMCA.  I took classes from Mary back in 1980 and thru her encouragement I started teaching in 1981 and I am still teaching today at the South YMCA.  My Granddaughter Grace also took dancing lessons at MGM studio.  Mary was such an inspiration for me and she will be missed.

Mary was a wonderful lady.  I worked for Mary when she opened her fitness center in the 80's.  I taught aerobics for her at that time.  She always had a smile and was always expecting the best out of her instructors.  Time passed by and about 25 years later we crossed paths again.  I had the privilege of working with her grand-daughters through the Maize High Dance team.  Mary came to several games to watch our performances it was always so great to see her.  This lady made her mark on this area.  I will really miss her.  Lori Heger

Mary was a wonderful person and always had words of encouragement for her dancers.  I will miss hearing her voice and seeing her at the studio.

I am a nurse at St Francis who had the pleasure of caring for Mary on a couple occasions. I also got to meet several lovely family members. My thoughts and prayers are with you all in this difficult time.

My condolences to her family. Mary impacted me through classes at WSU. She demonstrated excellent teaching and expected the same from her students.
