Melanie Janae Clark, 68, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2026, surrounded by family.
Melanie was born on August 14, 1957, in Wichita, Kansas, to Elza Raymond Blackwell and Jean Virginia (Blackwell) Dixon, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Lyle Dixon; her beloved husband, Lloyd Verle Clark; and her siblings, John Edward Kelly and Patricia Anne Crowl.
On February 14, 1982, Melanie married the love of her life, Lloyd Verle Clark. The two met at Countryside Christian Church, and their first date at Denny’s became a cherished tradition throughout their marriage. Following their wedding, they honeymooned in Hutchinson, Kansas—a place close to family roots. After losing Lloyd in 1994, Melanie remained devoted to him for the rest of her life.
Melanie dedicated over 37 years of her life to nursing, working as an LPN in multiple nursing homes and at St. Joseph Hospital. Following in her mother’s footsteps, she had a true calling for caring for others. She was passionate about helping patients and took great pride in mentoring and training new nurses and medical professionals.
A woman of strong faith, Melanie was a member of several churches throughout her life, including Countryside Christian Church, Messiah Baptist Church, and Crossroads Baptist Church. She especially enjoyed fellowship and craft weekends at Crossroads.
Melanie had a creative spirit and found joy in crafting, reading, and spending time with her beloved pets. She also had a love for Bingo at the Lifecare Center. She enjoyed playing card games—especially Rummy and Spades—and treasured simple, meaningful moments with family. One of her favorite traditions was taking her family out every year to look at Christmas lights, creating lasting memories across generations.
She was a dedicated supporter of the Ronald McDonald House, often collecting pull tabs and encouraging others to contribute. Her generosity and compassion extended far beyond her immediate circle.
Melanie was truly the heart of her family—the one who brought everyone together and made every gathering meaningful. She cherished her children, grandchildren, and extended family deeply and was known as a second mother to many.
She is lovingly survived by her children: Lisa Clark, Cynthia Clark, Angela Seay (Michael Seay), Jason Clark (BreAnna Clark), and Ashley Clark.
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Anthony Seay, Meredith Seay, and Andrew Clark, along with several great-nieces, great-nephews, and many honorary children and grandchildren.
She will be remembered for her unwavering love, strength, faith, and the countless lives she touched through her kindness and care.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 551 N. Hillside Suite 102, Wichita, Kansas 67214, in Melanie’s honor.
