"Melissa Sue" Lawrence

Melissa Sue Lawrence, 49, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on July 20, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and friends.

Melissa was born in Wichita, Kansas, to David Nance and Twila (Avery) Nance. She grew up with a spirited personality that would remain one of her most cherished qualities throughout her life.

Those who knew Melissa often described her as "4 foot 9 with a 10-foot attitude"—a woman whose presence was far bigger than her stature and whose strength, determination, and love left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

On August 3, 1996, Melissa married the love of her life, Jason Lawrence, at Masonic Home Chapel. Together they built a life centered on family, friendship, and unwavering devotion to one another.

Melissa found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved gardening, painting, and cheering on football. Music filled her heart, and she especially enjoyed singing, dancing, and spending time with those she loved. More than anything, Melissa treasured her family and friends. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by the people who meant the most to her, especially her beloved grandson.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jason Lawrence; her parents, David and Twila Nance; her son, David Lawrence; her daughter, Marsha Lawrence and son-in-law, Brandon White; her grandson, Lucas White; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish her memory. She also leaves behind her faithful dog, Ozzy, who was a treasured companion.

Melissa was preceded in death by her sister, Jennifer Nance.

Though her time here was far too short, Melissa's love, laughter, and vibrant spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her family will remember her for her fierce love, her unforgettable personality, and the joy she brought into every room she entered.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, August 1st, with visitation taking place two hour prior, at Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 East 13th Street North, Wichita, Kansas 67206.
