Merlyn was born August 29, 1941 in Emporia, Kansas, a son of Guy Willard and Laverne Carolyn (Rose) Deck. He attended Emporia High School, and graduated with the class of 1959.
Lyle used his charm and wittiness to catch the love of his life, Pattie, while working at Tom-Tom’s Auto Parts in Wichita, Kansas in 1962. He was then united in marriage to Patricia Faye Wiseman on October 21st, 1962 and to this union two children were born, Theresa Lynn and David Wayne.
Lyle worked at Garnett Auto Supply for 30+ years. He enjoyed spending time at the lake in his younger years boating and skiing, hunting, and was a man of faith and active at The First Wesleyan Church in Wichita, Kansas until his health started to decline.
Lyle was a loving husband, devoted father and papa to his grandbabies.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his great-grandson, Milo.
He is survived by his loving wife, Pattie Deck; children Theresa Lynn Orr (Dale), David Wayne Deck (Dynelle); his sister Jeanne Schmidt; grandchildren Erika Buchert (Kurt), Megan Taylor, Nicole Orr, Shelly Myers (Jason), Noah Orr (Maggie), Natalie McInelly (Jordan), Madison Kluenker (Austin), McKenna Deck, Morgan Mata (Chance); great-grandchildren Luca, Camilla, Pilar, Miriam, and Beckham.
Cremation has been effected.
Memorial Service will be held 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Central Community Church Chapel, 6100 W. Maple Street, Wichita, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Merlyn’s name may be made out to Central Community Church, 6100 W. Maple St., Wichita, Kansas 67209 or CrossRoads Wesleyan Church, 2030 SE 41st St., Topeka, Kansas 66609.
