

Michael was born to Esther and Gaylord Flinn on October 11, 1950, in Wichita, Kansas. He passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on May 3, 2026, at the age of 75 after a year and a half battle with lung cancer.
Michael graduated from Mulvane, Kansas. He was married to Dian Rodgers and they had three children together, Chris, Brian and Erin. He later divorced.
Mike was drafted into the Navy and in 1970 he spent some time in Vietnam. After his time in the Navy, he worked for South Western Bell for over 30 years, retiring in early 1992. He married the love of his life, Neta (Bornowski) Flinn. Their time and marriage lasted 37 wonderful years. Mike immediately loved two more children, Justin and Brandi.
Mike had a deep love for fishing. It was his number one thing to do. He also enjoyed the outdoors, boating, camping, gardening and family. He was a master gardener, Mason, Vietnam Vet and he lived in a house built on Table Rock Lake with his wife Neta. He loved the OU team, meeting people, telling stories and making sure his family was ok. He never met a stranger.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Esther and Gaylord Flinn and his brother, Steve Flinn. He is survived by his wife, Neta Flinn; brother, Terry (Brenda) Flinn; sister, Susan (Richard) DeCou; children, Erin (Derek), Chris (Tammy), Brian (Natalie), Brandi (Garrett), Justin (Roxanne); grandchildren, Avelyn, Alayna, Lynnen, Ryan, Taylor, Kailee, Allison, Gavin, Monroe and Eastyn.
Mike will be remembered for loving and being concerned for his family. He was friendly, loved to talk and meet new people and of course, fishing and anything to do with the outdoors. He had a “tough” exterior but was a “softie” inside.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 W Hwy 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209, at 1 pm.
