Mike came into my life in Daytona Beach, Florida, as a work acquaintance of my boyfriend 11 years ago. Since that time we ate a lot of Chinese food, and many chicken gizzards and livers, both in Florida and in Witchita when we would visit during the Cessna conference. When my mother died 2 years ago, one of the first people to call me to offer me support and love was Mike, who had met her but once, but knew how dear she was to me, and loved her too because of that. Then as I received a cancer diagnosis a few months later, it was again Mike who called me regularly to let me know I was in his prayers and he was always thinking of me. The one thing that Mike would always say to me on these phone calls in closing, and I can hear him saying it now as clearly as if he were on the other end of the phone, was "I have many friends, but I only have a few best friends, and you are one of them." That will always be one of the greatest honors in my life, to be one of Michael F Smith's best friends. He was a great man, and I feel the loss those that loved him feel and share them in my prayers. I know he is in good hands, and I can see he and my mother sharing a good laugh about me over a beer and Chinese food, things they both loved.
Thank you for being a part of my life Mike, I love you and will miss you so.

Mike was a great neighbor a few years ago when he lived in Texas. We became great friends and carried that friendship on after he moved to Kansas and I moved back home to New Mexico. I really do Miss hearing his voice on the other end of the phone. He was a man who pushed me and encouraged me to follow my dreams. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. He was definitely one of a kind! He will be greatly missed, always remembered and forever in our hearts.

My nieghbor and friend. He always thought highly of me, and would do anything for anyone. I met mike in 2005, and we became friends. Right away we helped each other with many projects we enjoyed together. Many years of weekend breakfast meetings is where we shared our friendship and listened to each others life experinces current and past. We were always solving the worlds problems! Goodbye friend, I will miss you.

I first bought aircraft parts from Mike in 1993 when he worked at AVSCO in Tampa. Business relationship turned into friendship and we've stayed in touch all these years. He was a great friend and I'll miss him dearly. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
