Milford grew up on the farm near Canton, Kansas with his parents and four siblings. He enjoyed helping on the family farm from early childhood until three years ago. Milford was a practicing CPA for over 40 years with Peterson, Peterson and Goss. His Christian faith was very important to him and was a charter member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church. Milford served on the advisory board of the Salvation Army for over 50 years and received the William Booth award for demonstrating a spirit of service to others through dedication to meeting the organization's mission goals, Exemplary service to the community, Leadership qualities, Wise counsel, and Financial contributions.
Milford cherished his family, especially his wife Carol of 74 years. He loved his sons Brent and Stacy as well as his five granddaughters. He made sure that he was present at as many recitals, sporting events and family gatherings as possible.
Milford is survived by his wife, Carol Frances Peterson; sons Brent J. Peterson and Stacy L Peterson (Allison); grandchildren Ashley Rescot (Robert), Sheree Lutz (Benjamin), Brittany Merritt (William), Kerri Parr (Forrest), Christy DeWillis (Ryan); and great grandchildren Annalise Rescot, Gus Rescot, Samantha Lutz, Vivian Lutz, Gabriel Lutz, Evelyn Merritt, Melanie Merritt, Springer Parr, Thea Parr, Cooper Parr, Emma Parr and Luke DeWillis.
Milford was preceded in death by his father Aben L. Peterson; mother Nettie Elsie Tinsley Peterson; and siblings Thelma Gard, Imo Klinkerman, Clara Mae Parr and Ernest Peterson.
A Funeral Service for Milford will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Pleasant Valley United Methodist, 1600 W 27th St N, Wichita, KS 67204.
