Allen, Nancy (Robb) , having lived 102 years, left this world on March 27, 2016. She was born August 20, 1913 in Gray, Beaver County, Oklahoma to Homer Young and Nora (Watson) Robb. Her family moved to Baca County, Colorado and where they lived in a “dugout” or dirt home. They later moved to southern Missouri where Nancy graduated from Hurley High School in 1931. After high school Nancy went to business school in Springfield where she learned stenography, applied for civil service and moved to Washington, DC to take a job in the passport office in 1932. Eventually, she moved to Wichita to work at IRS. In Wichita she attended the young adult group at First Methodist Church where she met Cecil R. Allen and they married on July 28, 1940. They moved to Colorado, Missouri and back to Wichita. They were married 66 years before his death in 2007. She worked as a stenographer at IRS for 33 years and retired from there. She was preceded in death by Cecil, by her parents, five siblings Charlie Robb, Ruby Chastain, Katherine Hall, Lee Robb, and Nell Wilder; and grandson, Gerald Reade. She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn, Kathleen and Norene (Paul Juricak), her sister June Pritchard, her grandchildren Brian Williams, Lisa Turner (Greg), Cynthia Webber and great grandchildren, Cody Turner, Collin Turner, Conner Turner, Samantha Webber, Toni Webber, Bruce Ramsey and many nieces and nephews. Nancy and Cecil were always active in their Sunday school class at First United Methodist Church where they were members. Over the years, she was also a member of National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), and ToastMasters International. It’s hard to believe as a young woman she went to DC, lived in a boarding house and worked there for several years. Nancy set a standard we can all hope to reach. She was honest, fair and loving. Her faith sustained her. A service and internment will be held Saturday, April 2, 10:00 am, at Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 E. 13th St. N., Wichita, KS, 67206. Messages and remembrances can be left at www.dignitymemorial.com/lakeview-funeral-home. Memorial donations can be made to her Sunday School Class, 50/50 Class, First Methodist Church, 330 N. Broadway, Wichita KS 67202.
