I remember when I came home and told Mom that I had enlisted in the Marine Corps. She almost fainted. Then she proceeded to do everything except say "No" to try and convince me not to go through with it. A friend, Al Wadley, who was a Warrant Officer in the Marine Corps, was able to convince her that everything would be OK. From that day on, she was an ardent supporter of the Marine Corps.
