Dearly loved wife, mother, grandmother, and precious friend and relative to so many, Nancy died peacefully in her home on Sunday, September 24th, surrounded by her husband and children at the age of 71, after a 3-year battle with cancer. Nancy was so many things including a coffee lover, favorite aunt, avid reader, sudoku and crossword puzzle master, party-planner, nature lover and devout Christian. She spread cheer throughout her life with her infectious laugh and delightful sense of humor. Countless people will remember her silliness and love of laughter.
Nancy was born in Woodward, OK on November 3, 1951, to Leo and Arlene McDaniel. She spent much of her childhood in Liberal, KS where she graduated from Liberal High School. She married the love of her life, Jerry Taylor on December 28, 1969, and spent the next 53 years by his side, moving from New Jersey to Arizona while he served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and eventually settling in Wichita, Kansas. They built a nurturing and warm home together for their children on the west side before retiring and moving to the heart of Wichita. Nancy was a deeply loving mother to Ande, Pete and J.D. She cherished her children and often designated many of their friends as her bonus children. Her heart was that big. She loved to dote on her grandchildren and had special traditions for them which always brought smiles to their faces. One of her favorite things was to have her grandchildren sleepover where they could watch movies and view the fireworks from her balcony overlooking the river.
Nancy dedicated much of her career to Mid Kansas Women’s Center where she supported the compassionate practice of doctors and staff, always bringing the perfect blend of professionalism and laughter to her coworkers all while caring for the women of our community for 29 years.
Nancy was preceded in death by: her parents, Leo and Arlene and 2 of her siblings, Danny McDaniel and Shirley Milbourn. Her oldest brother, Leo Wayne McDaniel, lives and resides in Oklahoma. She is survived by: her husband, Jerry; 3 children and their spouses: Andrea (Ande) and husband Tommy, Pete and wife Kelly, and J.D. and wife Erica. Beloved to her are her grandchildren: Cooper Taylor, Charlotte Taylor, Jake Craft, Reece Taylor, Duke Taylor, Skylar Krolikowski and Tommy Craft.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 29th at 1:00 pm at Resthaven Gardens of Memory 11800 West US -54, Wichita, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, she would be humbly grateful for donations to Wichita's Victory in the Valley, 3755 E. Douglas Ave., Wichita, Kansas, 67218, as this organization was so helpful to her throughout her journey these past 3 years.
