Dean was born in Sulphur Rock, AR to parents Jeff Burks Fugatt and Estella Shirley Fugatt. Dean went to school in Senath, MO, then served in the Army as a Corporal. After the Army he moved to Wichita, KS, where he worked for Star Lumber for over 30 years and retired from Plastic Fabrication of Wichita. He married Sue D. Shaffer in 1979 and they moved to Mountain Home, AR in 2005. Dean loved the color red, he would wear a red jacket, sit in his red chair and look at his red Cadillac’s and thus he became known as the “Red Man” in and around town.
Dean was one of a kind to say the least and leaves and empty place in hearts of many he left behind: Step-Daughter, Linda Morris (Jim Morris), Siblings, Stella Mae Russell, 2-step sisters, Kathy Arnold & Connie Adams, 2-step brothers, Terry Fugatt & Ricky Fugatt. Many nieces and nephews, in-laws and out-laws. Dean was also loved by his 3 grandchildren (Dana Gardner, Tammy Albrecht & Kevin Seifert) 5 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife Sue D. Fugatt and a step-daughter Marilyn K. Veasey, sisters- Rosalee Vaugh; Dorothy L. Smith and Ruth Estes; a half-sister Kay Fugatt; brothers, Jeff Fugatt Jr., Blacky Fugatt and his twin Gene Fugatt.
A graveside service for Red will be held Friday, August 19, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, KS 67209.
