Pat was born on September 2, 1935 in St. Louis, Missouri to Eugene Sr. and Juanita Fagyal. Her family moved to Wichita, Kansas in 1949, where she attended Central Interm and graduated from North High School. In 1954, she continued her education at Bob Jones University in Greensville, South Carolina. She held various administrative positions for companies like Boeing, the Derby School Board, and retired after 13 years of service with the City of Wichita Finance Department. Pat was a longtime member of Central Community Church, where she enjoyed being a part of their Motivators group and helping others through the many church events. She was also involved with organizing fundraisers, game nights, community meals and events for her friends and residents of West Park Tower and Peach Tree Plaza. Pat was a talented artist, who shared her creativity through painting, crocheting, quilting, and needlepoint. She also loved traveling throughout the United States, including her favorite destinations, Alaska and Hawaii, but the most important thing in her life was spending time with her family, especially her three granddaughters, whom she was very proud of.
Pat is preceded in death by her parents; brother, John Fagyal; and former husband and best friend, Richard Benoit. Her unconditional love and infectious laugh will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her daughters, Susan (Patrick) Engels and Marilyn (Scott) Hayes; grandchildren, Brinkley (David Jr.) Grado, Nicollette (David Bick) Engels, and Tanner Hayes; great granddaughter, Navette Grado; brother, Eugene “Bill” Jr. (Ethel) Fagyal; many extended family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Resthaven Mortuary on Tuesday, September 29th at 1:00PM, with visitation one hour before.
