

Paul Evan Schye, 69, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on June 2, 2026.
Paul was born on February 9, 1957. He graduated from Westby High School in the Class of 1975 and went on to earn a degree in Engineering from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He spent most of his career working for Boeing.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Paul was known for his love of sailing and the friendships he built through the Walnut Valley Sailing Club at El Dorado Lake. As a longtime member of the club, Paul served in a number of leadership roles.
Paul found great joy at the lake through sailing, socializing with friends, helping fellow members with boat projects, or simply relaxing on the water. His dedication, generosity, and welcoming spirit enriched the sailing community and touched the lives of many. He was always willing to lend a hand, share his knowledge, and enjoy the company of friends old and new.
Paul loved and was loved by his family. He loved playing cards and was always the first one picked for any family trivia team. Paul’s late wife Meredith was the love of his life and together they loved to travel the world.
His presence will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and fellow sailors.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Rosalie Schye; his wife, Meredith Huggins-Schye; his sister, Ann Drew; and his nephew, Jeff Funke.
He is survived by his brother, Jon Schye (Pat); his sister, Susan Dodge (Stanley); and many nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held on August 20th at 2:30 at Lakeview Cemetery in Wichita.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Paul’s hometown of Westby, WI on October 3rd at Branches Winery from 12:30 to 3:30 pm.
