Peggy was born the daughter of Robert and Deloris Carraher (Peggy Brown) on January 16, 1946, in Richmond, California. She spent portions of her childhood between Ohio and California where she graduated from Marvista High School in Imperial Beach, CA. Peggy came to Kansas to start a family with John Gooch in 1965 to whom she was married until 1985.
Peggy was a lady who enjoyed life by raising her boys, working at the hospital, baking cakes, sewing, dancing, riding horses, etc. She enjoyed spending time with many friends throughout her life and was excited to spend time with her family whom she loved very much. Peggy loved helping people while also being dedicated to raising her family. She worked many years at the local hospital in various roles beginning in 1973. Peggy had many different business interests, including sewing and celebrating the community's greatest moments by baking glorious cakes to commemorate them.
On March 19, 1993, Peggy and Mike Fincher were united in marriage on the beautiful island of Jamaica. Together they celebrated 29 years of marriage. Peggy went on to fulfill a lifelong goal and graduated from WSU Tech as a Licensed Practical Nurse, while starting and running her next business, Friendly Acres Care Home along with Mike. Mike and Peggy had horses for several years. They loved taking riding trips, even with some grandchildren, as well as just riding them with the grandchildren at the farm. She was a caregiver until her health finally prevented her from being able to help others and she reluctantly retired in 2019. Peggy loved the ocean and talked about going back there for many years. Her family is what kept her in Kansas no matter how much she wanted to go back to her roots.
Survivors include her husband Mike Fincher of Wellington; Son, Troy Gooch (Shireen) of Wichita, Kansas; Son, Dustin Gooch of Wellington, Kansas; Son, Damon Gooch (Sonia) of Mayfield, Kansas; Son, Stephen Gooch of Derby, Kansas; Stepson, Doug Fincher of Topeka Kansas; Stepdaughter, Julie (Jason) Hollway, Maple City, Kansas; sister, Jackie (Tim) Fullerton. In lieu of a funeral to abide by Peggy’s wishes, the family will have a Celebration of Life, Come & Go on Saturday, December 3rd, from 1:00-5:00 P.M at her home, 1102 W. Harvey, Wellington, KS to share memories of Peggy's life.
