

Rex Thompson was born in Eads, Colorado on Nov. 9, 1917 and died in Wichita, Ks. on July 10, 2015. He was the second of 5 brothers and sisters all who have preceded him in death. Rex resided in Ottawa, Ks, and Parsons, Ks. He eventually made his home in Wichita, Ks with his wife LaVern of 63 years (preceded him in death). They had 5 children: Jerry (Judy) of Loyalton, California; Rod of Wichita, Ks (preceded him in death); Judy Voncannan (Paul) of Wichita, Ks; Doug (Diane, preceded him in death) of Wichita, Ks; and Patt Ludwick (Bruce) of Paola, Ks. Rex and LaVern enjoy 25 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Rex was a successful salesman working for JCPenney and then Sears and Roebuck Company for most of his career. He was an active member of Grace Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed participating in Boy Scouts with his sons. He loved to golf, travel and making things for his family in his woodworking shop. Friends are invited to attend a visitation from 9:30 to 10:30am on Saturday the 18th of July, 2015 with funeral services following at 10:30am both at Grace Presbyterian Church, 5002 E. Douglas, Wichita. Rev. Catherine Neelly Burton will officiate. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Wichita. Memorials have been established with the Rex and LaVern Thompson endowment fund c/o Grace Presbyterian Church, 5002 E. Douglas, Wichita 67208.
