Byrne M.D., Robert F., 94 of Wichita, KS, passed away Friday, December 11, 2015. He was born April 25, 1921 in Chicago, IL. Preceded by his parents; Frank and Gertrude; sister, Violet Fitzhugh; son, Jim, and grandson, Shawn. Survived by his devoted wife of 70 years Jane; children, Robert Jr., Kathleen (Ron - deceased) Moss, Tom (Vicki), Tim (Kay), Claudia Baker, Mary (Alan) Grassi, 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Robert earned his Medical Degree from the University of Maryland, is a WWII Veteran where he proudly served in the Army Medical Corps. aboard the USS General C.C. Ballou, County Coroner of Seward County, KS, practiced medicine at the Veterans Hospital of Wichita from 1962 – 2001, and he taught at KU Medical School of Wichita, for 25 years. Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm, Monday, Dec. 14 at Lakeview Funeral Home. Services to be held at 2 pm, Tuesday, Dec. 15 at St. Thomas Aquinas 1215 N. Stratford Ln., with committal following at Lakeview Masoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Harry Hynes Hospice, 313 S. Market St, Wichita, KS 67202.
