Bob built a distinguished career as an engineer, working at Boeing and later at MRD in materials processing development. He retired at 55, yet his drive to contribute never waned—he went on to start an engineering consulting firm and served as CEO for Platinum Aerospace. Throughout his professional life, Robert was known for the kind of reliability that others leaned on, and for a generosity of spirit that showed in both leadership and everyday interactions.
Away from work, Robert found his greatest peace outdoors. He and his family owned a pine forest tree farm, a place where time was measured in seasons, effort, and shared purpose. There, Bob taught the boys the value of hard work and the importance of carrying life lessons forward—while also giving them the chance to earn a little extra money and take pride in what they had helped build. In those simple, steady moments, his loyal devotion and kind heart were felt most clearly.
Bob will be remembered for the steadfast way he showed up—for his work, for his responsibilities, and for those who counted on him. His legacy lives on in the lessons he passed along, the care he extended, and the enduring example of a life lived with loyalty, generosity, and purpose.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Leona Ulrich; his siblings: Jim Ulrich, Joyce Ulrich and Pattie Ulrich.
Bob is survived by his wife of 36 years, Nancy Ulrich; his boys: Vance, Ritchie, Scott and Chad; 11 grandkids and 5 great-grandkids.
