

Robert Allen Walton, known affectionately as Bobby, passed away on June 6, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of service, entrepreneurship, and deep family bonds. Born in Winfield, Kansas on February 7, 1945, Bobby was the beloved son of Gerald and Edith Walton and was preceded in death by his parents, brother Donald Walton, niece Susan White, and sister Joeann Rowley.
Bobby is survived by his sister Sharon Howard, nieces: Kimberly Howard, Michelle Cook (Andrew); nephews: Craig Rowley, Richard Rowley, Clayton Walton (Brandy); grandnephews: Matthew Rowley (Natasha), Blake Rowley, Colton Cook; grandniece: Harper Cook, Emily Walton, Olivia Walton ; great-nieces: Alana Rowley and Farrah Rowley.
Bobby's life was marked by remarkable achievements and unwavering dedication to his passions. He graduated from Udall High School in 1963, followed by Arkansas City Junior College (now Cowley College) and Kansas State Teachers College of Emporia (now Emporia State University), where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business in January 1968. His commitment to serving his country led him to enlist in the Army in April 1968, where he bravely served during the Vietnam War, earning commendations including the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, Bronze Star, and Air Medal.
After his military service, Bobby pursued his entrepreneurial dreams, founding S & S Rentals with locations in Pennsylvania and Virginia. His entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to excellence were evident in the success of his business ventures.
Bobby's love for tennis was a central part of his life. He was a fixture at the Hershey Racquetball Club, where he formed lifelong friendships and achieved numerous athletic milestones. His passion for tennis took him across the country, competing in national championships and enjoying the sport whether on court or watching it fervently on TV.
Above all, Bobby will be remembered for his thoughtfulness and deep devotion to his family. He cherished his role as a brother, uncle, and great-uncle, always making time for family gatherings and celebrations. His annual trips back to Kansas and summer adventures to the beach with loved ones created cherished memories that will endure.
Bobby’s presence will be profoundly missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. As we mourn his loss, we take solace in imagining him reunited with cherished family members in heaven, no doubt enjoying a spirited game of cards.
