In his early education, Rodney attended schools around the world, including Japan, Iceland, and the Philippines, while his father was in the avionics industry with the United States Air Force. Rodney attended Derby High School in Derby, Kansas, where he was a proud high school graduate.
After his high-school years, he went on to study architecture at Kansas University (KU) for a few years, then was successful in account executive positions in the car industry and the REAL Yellow Pages. This is where he ended his working career as a 20-year employee and proudly transitioned into early retirement.
Rodney's hobbies varied in many different areas. He enjoyed collector cars, politics, studying the constitution, World War history, collecting antiques and watching black and white, "cheesy" horror movies.
In life Rodney had many moments where he felt tremendous joy. During those moments, he was singing Elvis karaoke with friends, traveling in the Caribbean, riding in his cousin Dan's fishing boat in the Gulf of Mexico, sitting by the fire while smoking a good cigar, and spending time with his loyal canine companions, Hazel, Maggie, and Shelby.
Rodney was very content about many things during his life which included: retirement, doing the right thing, watching the sunset on the deck of his home, swimming in the beautiful ocean, mentoring the younger generation, and most of all, respecting and supporting 1st responders and military service members.
Looking back on Rodney's life, he leaves a great legacy. He was a man that fiercely loved and was loyal to those around him. He deeply respected others while prioritizing his marriage and family over all else. Rodney's grandchildren were the apples of his eye and he was overall a deeply involved family man. Rodney led a full and blessed life of love, loyalty, friendship and fellowship.

DeFazio of Florida; his brother, Todd Lekan of Mesa, Arizona; his grandchildren, Kara, Mila, and Abigayle; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins throughout Corpus Christi, Texas, Iowa, and many other states.
