From an early age, he carried a quiet strength, a generous spirit, and a deep commitment to helping others—qualities that would define his entire life.
Roger graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Tri-State College in Angola, Indiana, a foundation that led him into a long and respected career. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1955, as a Radioman second class, earning the National Defense Service Ribbon for his dedication and honorable service. Continued service in the US Navy Reserve until June 1960.
On June 6, 1954, Roger married Barbara Joy Wing in Falls City, beginning a lifelong marriage rooted in love, faith, and family. Together they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering devotion.
Roger spent his professional life at Boeing, where he served as the manager of the Meteorological Metrology Lab until his retirement in 1994. Known for his precision, leadership, and integrity, he was deeply respected by colleagues and remained active in the Electrical Engineering Association.
A man of faith, Roger was a devoted member of the United Methodist Church, where he lived out his belief in service and compassion. Whether volunteering, lending a hand to neighbors, or quietly supporting community efforts, Roger gave generously wherever he saw a need. His kindness was steady, sincere, and offered without expectation.
Above all, Roger was a family man. He poured his time, attention, and heart into those he loved. His presence brought comfort, his guidance brought strength, and his love brought joy. He was the kind of father, husband, and friend who showed up—fully, faithfully, and without hesitation.
Roger will be remembered for his selflessness, his gentle spirit, and the countless ways he made life better for others. His legacy lives on in the community he supported, the family he cherished, and the many lives touched by his generosity and warmth.
