Roger A Merrick

Roger passed away on Friday, July 31, 2026, in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 81 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. He was born to Lloyd Norton and Marguerite Anita (Fisher) Merrick on June 10, 1945, in Wichita, Kansas.

Roger graduated from Butler County Community College with a bachelor’s degree in aviation engineering.

Roger married Katrina Goddard on June 24, 1967, and parted ways in September of 1994. He later married Patricia JoAnn on March 16, 1996, and was with her until her passing on September 23, 2021. Roger had two children, Pamela and Christopher.

Roger worked for Cessna, Beechcraft and Learjet. He enjoyed golfing, Chiefs football and enjoyed visiting Table Rock Lake and casinos. He was also a Shriner and part of the Lion’s Club.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David Merrick and spouse, Patricia Merrick. He is survived by his children, Pamela (Eric) Schroeder and Christopher (Tammy) Merrick; step children, Robert Wizer, Julie Freeman, Jeffrey Wizer, Jason Wizer, Jennifer Youngman; 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Roger was the strong, but quiet type. He was always willing to guide you in the right direction if you needed help or were stuck in a situation. His daughter Pamela shares some memories, “I will really miss vacations at Big Cedar Lodge, porch-sitting in Kingman and meals at Jeri’s Kitchen together. I will also miss our Saturday evening phone conversations.”

Services and burial will take place at a later date.
