Roger N. Williams
February 28, 1933 – April 19, 2021
Roger N. Williams, 88, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed into heaven on April 19, 2021. Roger retired as the owner of Great Plains Contractors, where he worked for many years with his wife, Joyce. Roger was a Korean War veteran and was proud to fly his American flags. Roger enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid sportsman who loved to camp, boat, water ski, hunt and fish. He also appreciated music, and in his retirement, had re-started playing the violin. He loved his family and his many dogs over the years. We all cherished spending summers water skiing at the lake with family and friends and the many trips to Beaver Lake. Roger was very proud of his family and was his grandchildren’s biggest champion. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joyce; daughter and son-in-law, Lori & Rick Hilts; beloved grandchildren and spouses, James & Alyssa Hilts, Julia Hilts Davis & Dr. Christian Davis; wonderful great-grandson, Charlie Hilts, and “the smartest dog ever” Snoop. He is also survived by siblings Melba Fisher, Vella Barnett & Grant Williams, many nieces, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Janet Massey and Marshall Naylor. Visitation will be Monday, April 26, 2021 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Memorial Service will be on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at 11:00 AM. Both the Visitation and Memorial Service will be at Lakeview Mortuary. Memorials to University United Methodist Church and the Kansas Humane Society.

So sorry to loose our long time friend. Roger and I went all though school together at Matfield Green, Kansas, in the beautiful Flint Hills. We were in a class of four classmates—3 boys and one girl. We were in the Army together with Roger’s brother, Marshall. Growing up in a small town with a bunch of boys made for lots of memories. We will really miss Roger.
