

Rosemary (Wright) Smith, age 95, passed away on December 29, 2024, four days after celebrating her Christmas birthday with family members. She was born December 25, 1929, in Wichita, Kansas to the late Alvin and Grace Wright.
Rosemary and her husband, James R. Smith lived in Haysville, Kansas for 60 years prior to Jim's death at age 89. Jim and Rosemary met while they were both students at K-State University.
Rosemary dedicated 50 years volunteering with the Girl Scouts in the Wichita area, starting as a troop leader, moving to Neighborhood Chairman, leader and camp trainer and running a local Day Camp for around 20 years. She received numerous awards from the Girl Scouts including being the 1st recipient of the Gladys Weideman Award for Volunteers. She spent several years helping to organize the Historical collection for the Girl Scout Council.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Alvin and Grace Wright; brothers, David and Austin (Ramona) Wright, all of Norwich, Kansas; and a sister, Eleanor (Jack) Shortle, of Poughkeepsie, New York. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Dale) Wolfe, of Delta, Ohio and Kathy (Stan) Crow, of Springfield, Virginia; grandchildren, Derek Biggers, Patrick Crow and Carrie (Tom Smilack) Crow; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A visitation/reception will be held at Haysville United Methodist Church on January 25, 2025 beginning at 10:00 AM. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM. A private interment will be held at Resthaven Garden of Memories in Wichita, Kansas.
