Roxy was ‘tuff as nails’ and taught her daughters to be the same. She was known for her sharp wit, sarcastic banter, and her devotion to her girls and their families. She split her time between her retirement lake home in Shell Knob, Missouri and her home in Wichita, Kansas. She was always up for a casino or Bingo and loved her yearly girls trips.
Roxy was born December 9th, 1947 in Blackwell, Oklahoma. She grew up in Sublette, Kansas where she graduated in 1965. Roxy married John Katz and they moved to Wichita in 1967 to start their family. Blessed with two daughters, Kami and Jaci, and fed by John’s thirst for adventure, the family vacationed extensively to oceans, mountains and the dessert. Roxy was never missing from either of her girls’ sporting events and could often be heard above the crowd “schooling” the referee on a call.
Roxy is preceded in death by her parents Betty Jean Ellsaesser and Marvin Fitzgerald and her beloved husband of 55 years, John and faithful pet companion Buddy.
Survived by her brother, and lifelong friend, Jim Fitzgerald (Jan), daughters, Kami Katz Sjoberg (Scott) and Jaci Katz (Mike Watkins); she was Nene to three grandsons, John Sjoberg, David Sjoberg and Anthony Watkins. She leaves behind many loved ones, cousins and friends, but she’s reunited with John and they’re headed out on their biggest adventure.
