Ruth N Tweedy

Tweedy, Ruth, 86, of Wichita, Kansas went to be with the Lord on Wed. Dec. 13, 2017 at her home surrounded by family. Ruth was born the daughter of John and Pearl Burns on Sept. 14, 1931 in Sallisaw, OK. Ruth and Robert Tweedy were united in marriage on Sept. 14, 1954 in Sallisaw, OK. Together they celebrated 61 years before his passing in 2015. She shared her gift of love for babies by spending 48 years providing loving care in her home and at the church nursery. Survivors include her loving children; Toni (Brent) Titus of Wichita, Dixie (Mike) Dorriety of DeFuniak Springs, FL, Leslie (Don) Keene of Wichita, Dennis Tweedy of Wichita, Sharon (Mike) Walker of Spencer, OK, Janet (John) McCartney of Wichita, Todd Tweedy of Wichita, siblings; Homer (Yvonne) Burns of CA, Dixie Walters of OK, 17 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son; Robert “Bobby” Tweedy, granddaughter, Melissa Tweedy, great-grandson, Merrick Osborne and 8 siblings. Visitation will on Tues. Dec. 19, 2017 from 6 to 8pm at Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 E. 13th St. N., Wichita. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Wed. Dec. 20, 2017 at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1415 S. Topeka, Wichita. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Wichita. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Via Christi Cystic Fibrosis Clinic, 707 N. Emporia, Wichita, KS.
