Smythe, Ryan Matthew, 28, passed away November 13, 2013, after a long battle with PTSD. Ryan was a United States Army veteran and served with the 101st Airborne Division in Afghanistan. Survivors are: son, Parker Ryan Smythe; parents, Steve and Jane Smythe; brothers, Brandon and Kyle Smythe; grandmothers, Vada Reiser and Joan Olds; Parker’s loving mother, Jamie Smythe; many other relatives and friends. Ryan attended Northwest High School. He was an excellent athlete and loved basketball, football, and especially his years playing Westurban baseball. He was never hesitant to express his love for others; his little boy, his family, his friends, and those he served with in the military. Ryan was a proud soldier who served his country well. Memorial contributions to The Parker Smythe 529 Plan may be sent to Resthaven Mortuary, Wichita, Kansas. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
