Maria Pham Thị Sắc (Giong) was born in Ma Lâm Phan Thiết, Việt Nam to Mr. Phạm Văn Kẻo and Mrs. Bùi Thị Tý. The family then moved to Vũng Tàu Bà Rịa.
Married to Nguyễn Văn Kính in 1978, they welcomed a son, Nguyễn Ngọc Tuấn, in 1979. Nguyễn Ngọc Tú (1981) and Nguyễn Ngọc Tai (1983) soon followed for a total of 3 sons.
Giong was sponsored by her siblings in the USA and joined them in 2003. She was a caregiver most of her life to many families. She loved eating tropical fruit, cooking for her family and friends, and cherishes the time spent together, especially on cruises. Her greatest love is her passion for Jesus Christ.
Giong passed away at the age of 69 in Wichita, Kansas; preceded in death by her husband, her two sons, her parents and two brothers, Phạm Văn Thành and Phạm Định Mệnh.
She leaves behind her youngest son, Tài, grandson Võ Ngọc Phát (2010), brother Phạm Văn Thái (Sơ), sister Ninh Thị Tri Kỷ (Mai), brother Phạm Kim Ninh, four sister-in-laws, and adoptive son, Phạm Văn Nghĩa, as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends around the world.
