Sarah Evelyn McMillen Folks Ratekin

Ratekin, McMillen, Folks, Sarah Evelyn (Tracy), 89, was born November 2, 1923 and transferred to Heaven, May 5, 2013. She was preceded in death by husbands, Kenneth L. McMillen, Harold W. Folks, and Donald A. Ratekin. Also preceding her in death were 7 brothers, 1 sister, and 1 granddaughter. She is survived by 2 sons, Terry (Sheri) McMillen, Wichita, Kansas, and Roger (LeeAnn) McMillen, Seattle, Washington, 1 brother, Galen A. Tracy, Rock, Kansas, 3 step-sons, Bill (Earlene) Folks, Bentonville, Ark, Roger (April) Ratekin, Berkely, Michigan, Bruce Ratekin, Dublin, Ohio, 2 step-daughters, Carol (Jim) Scully, Oak Harbor, Washington, Jane (Greg) Stephens, Inkster, Michigan, 4 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Sarah was born on a farm near Argonia, Kansas and lived there until she was 12 years old. She moved with her family to a farm near Udall, Kansas and graduated from Oxford High School. She was a charter member of Metropolitan Baptist Church where she worked many years in the children’s ministry. She was a very devoted, compassionate, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who will be dearly missed. Visitation with family present is 6 to 8 pm Thursday at Resthaven Mortuary. Services will be Friday, May 10 at 1:30 p.m. at Metropolitan Baptist Church, 525 W. Douglas, Wichita, Kansas. A memorial has been established at Metropolitan Baptist Church in her name.
