She never met a stranger and was known for her quick wit, bold spirit, and sass. Her friends were family and her family were friends.
Born on January 29, 1945, in Anthony, Kansas, Sheryl was the daughter of Betty Jean Pulliam (Cook) and Leonard Lawrence Pulliam. She grew up in Derby, Kansas, where she attended Elementary, Jr High and High school. Graduating from Derby High School in 1963.
Sheryl began her professional journey at Q Corporation in Derby before joining Boeing’s finance department, where she worked until retirement. She later became certified as a medical lab technician, continuing to serve others with precision and care.
She was a member of first United Methodist Church in Wichita, a member of Eastern Star and volunteered at the Kansas Masonic Home. Creativity was Sheryl’s constant companion. She was an avid reader and a gifted quilter, known for crafting pieces that were as beautiful as they were meaningful.
Sheryl loved her family. She is survived by her children; Cary (Mary) Lewis, Kevin (Pam) Lewis, Kimberly Pryor, and Andrea Jaben (Louie Hernandez) ; her sister; Sandy Attebury; eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She shared a particularly special bond with her granddaughter, Elizabeth Plank and great-granddaughter, Arianna Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Betty Pulliam, and her brothers Dale and Stan Pulliam.
Sheryl will be remembered for her warmth, resilience, and spirit. She will be missed by friends and family alike.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation or the Kansas Humane Society—two causes close to Sheryl’s heart.
A visitation for Sheryl will be held Friday, August 15, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, KS 67209.
A funeral service will occur Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Resthaven Mortuary. A graveside service will follow the funeral service at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, KS 67209.
