Shirley Leone (Brink) Rider

Shirley Leone (Brink) Rider, age 96, of Wichita, Kansas passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025. Shirley was born July 14, 1928, in Ortley, South Dakota to Ione Bernice Griner Brink and Hjalmar Sigvard Brink.

Throughout her life and into her 90's, this former school teacher continued to love reading. She kept a log of every book she'd read, and carried it with her to the library to make sure she didn't check out something she'd already read. She also enjoyed word puzzles and sudoku. Most of all, she loved her family, and keeping up with their lives. Early in the morning, along with her daily Bible reading, she would pray for all her family members -- especially her beloved children, grandchildren, great, and great great grandchildren.

As she wrote out her Life's story, Shirley concluded with this: "One day, may I hear Christ say to me, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."

Shirley is survived by her daughter Cathy Lavender (Paul); daughter-in-laws Cleta Rider and Tammy Rider-Briggs; siblings Donald Brink (Mavis), Arlys Moen, Kay Halse (Wayne), Dale Brink (Gloria), Dennis Brink (Cheryl), and Gayle Brooks; grandchildren Mark Rider, Jeremy Rider, Kelly Parliament (Nathan), Emily Lavender, Paul Lavender II (Leah Sakr Lavender), James Rider, Jace Rider (Amber Myers), Phillip Cochran, Whitney McFall (Branddan), Krystle Cochran; great grandchildren Mason, Isabella (Shaun), Gideon, Benjamin, Leo, Natalie, Paul Levi, Luca, Caity, Jace, Micah, Kristi, Aliyah, Alec, and Sydney; and great great grandchildren Kai and Penny.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Paul Leo Rider; father Hjalmar Sigvard Brink; and mother Ione Bernice Griner Brink; and sons Keith Rider and Douglas Rider.

A Celebration of Life for Shirley will be held Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 2:30 PM at Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 E 13TH ST N, Wichita, KS 67206. The service will be Livestreamed, http://client.tribucast.com/tcid/c25067059770333 . A private family burial will occur at a later date at Lakeview Cemetery.
