

Shirley was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. As well as, active property owner/manager. She was born August 9, 1933, to Sylvanis (Rasty) and Mina Scherer where she was welcomed into their loving and work focused Oklahoma family farm. Shirley married the love of her life, Glennis Robert (Bob) Sacket, at the age of 15 in July of 1949. Together they moved to Kansas where they raised their four children and built their lives together. They both provided so much love and care for all their family, friends, neighbors, co-workers and even tenants. She was always quick to make everyone feel like a part of the family. One of Shirley’s greatest strengths was her unwavering and tireless care of family members in their hours of greatest need. She also had a love of hosting dinners and numerous family traditions. She had a green thumb and could grow any type of plant or flower she desired. Some of her favorite past times included, fishing, playing cards and spending time with family and friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by parents, Sylvanis (Rasty) and Mina Scherer; Husband of 68 years, Glennis Robert (Bob) Sacket; Siblings Joann Geckles, John Scherer, Jerry Scherer, Vida (Sister Mary John) Scherer, Patty Hardison; Son, Lloyd Sacket; and Grandson, Jason Sacket.
Shirley is survived by sister, Jeanette Hale; Sons, Tim Sacket, Tony Sacket (Kimberly); Daughter, Jolene Edwards (Terry); 14 Grandchildren, Vince Sacket, Eli Sacket, Austin Sacket (Kourtnie), Dylan Sacket (Amy), Chase Sacket (Kaitlyn), Grant Sacket (Sarra), Gage Sacket, Morgan Sacket, Amber Sacket, Gail (Troy) Sacket, Michael (Jennifer) Edwards, Crystal (Justin) Smith, Bryan (Christine) Edwards and Katie Edwards; 21 great-grandchildren, Ania Sacket, Chole Sacket, Niall Sacket, Trinity Sacket, Ethan Sacket, Trae Sacket, Taylon Sacket, Amaya Sacket, Dustin Sacket, Dawson West, Couper Edwards, Owen Edwards, Gunner Smith, Fenton Smith, Wyatt Smith, Carter Edwards, Henry Edwards, Lorelei Edwards, Daphne Edwards, Emma Sacket and Lane Sacket.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2026, and funeral service 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2026, both at Resthaven Mortuary. Memorials may be sent to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market St., Wichita, KS 67202.
