

Sister Frances Landry, CSJ entered eternal life on Monday, September 1, 2026 at Mt. St. Mary Convent, Wichita Kansas. Sister Frances was born on November 23, 1936 in Labarr, Louisiana, to Richard Landry and Elnora Babbin Landry.
Survived by her brother, Thomas Landry; several nieces and nephews; and members of the Congregation of St. Joseph.
Sr. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Elnora Landry; sisters, Mildred Daughty, Corrine Leblanc, Adeline Smith; and her brother, Richard Landry.
Sr. Frances graduated from high school in Morganza, Louisiana and entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in New Orleans, Louisiana, on September 8, 1955, professing her final vows in 1964. She earned a Bachelor in Science in Education in 1971 from Dominican College in New Orleans and taught lower elementary grades for 20 years from 1959 to 1979. She served in schools in New Orleans, Louisiana, Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, Grand Coteau, Louisiana, and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Following her teaching ministry Sr. Frances served as receptionist at St. George Catholic School in Baton Rouge, until her retirement in 2009 to Hundred Oaks Sisters of St. Joseph Retirement Center in Baton Rouge. She served as part-time receptionist there until her final move to Mt. St. Mary in Wichita, Kansas in 2025. Sr. Frances engaged in prayer ministry until the time of her death.
Homecoming/Rosary will be held at Mount St. Mary Resurrection Chapel on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass of Resurrection at 10:30 a.m. Internment to follow at Mount St. Mary Cemetery.
