Steve DeWayne Sixkiller, age 90, of Bel Aire, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. Steve was born August 11, 1934, six miles north of Jay, Oklahoma to Lenora M Henderson Sixkiller and Samuel Lloyd Sixkiller.
Steve served honorably in the United States Army in the Korean War. His memberships included being a Freemason and a member of the Patmos Lodge #97 in El Dorado, a member of the Elks Lodge #1407 in Eldorado, the Shriners' Temple in Wichita, the American Legion in Topeka, and the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma.
Steve's hobbies included hunting, fishing, golf, archery, billiards, and scuba diving.
Steve is survived by his wife, Nita Jean Sixkiller; children Alisa Bridge (Clay), Stacy Poelma (Bill), and Jack Sixkiller (Julie); grandchildren Sarah Reiswig (Ben), Anna Poelma, Lucas Poelma, Analisa Bridge, and Alex Sixkiller (Kara); and great grandchild Brighton.
Steve was preceded in death by his father Samuel Lloyd Sixkiller; mother Lenora M Henderson Sixkiller; and sister Dossie Dell Akin.
A Visitation for Steve will be held Friday, March 14, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 E 13TH ST N, Wichita, KS 67206, followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM.
