Am sending my deepest and most sincere sympathy to Steve's family and all who loved him. I met Steve on Guam in the late 70's when he and my husband worked together. Steve spent many, many days at our home and was an adopted 'Uncle' to my children. He always bought goodness and kindness and lots of fun in the door with him. My children adored him and so did I...even when he was being a pill while I cut his hair short enough to pass an inspection or two that got scheduled on the day before payday. The world was a better place for him having been in it. Our life was, too. I am so sorry for your loss.

Steve and I met while stationed in Bahrain in 1993.   We attended college and played cards .   We kept in touch all these years.  I am saddened by his passing and will keep his family in my thoughts.  He always was there to lend a hand and was a "Chiefs Chief."

I was devastated when I first learned of the tragic mishap that took Steve from us far too early.  We met when we were both stationed at Barbers Point in Hawaii in the 80's, and met up again when we were later stationed at Pax River, MD.  Through the years, we gathered at reunions and shared memories.  Steve was such a kind man and mentor to many.  I am proud to have know him.  He will be sorely missed.  Deepest condolences to Laurie and the children.  Our prayers are with you.

Oh my, where do I start. I met Steve the first time at a MX track around 20 years ago he came up to me and my son and introduced himself. We as well as many other MX families hung out with Steve and his youngest daughter Bailee for years at many MX tracks around Kansas. Steve loved motorcycles, racing and all other athletic games. I myself have so many countless memories of Steve.
Hole-shot Hickle is what we nicknamed him because he would always get the jump when the gates would drop and beat everyone to the first turn in the races.  
Steve was the most caring, giving and forgiving person I have ever known and proud to have been one of his many friends. For years, Steve tried to get me into playing golf and I finally gave in a few years back and really enjoyed playing golf with Steve and other friends. My only regret is not playing years ago as I would have been able to spend more time with Steve as those times are now memories that I will never forget.
I will miss all the Shocker games, concerts, races, playing golf and just hanging out with Steve.  I could go on and on as many others could do the same, he was one of a kind and they broke the mold when he was made!!

Rest easy my friend you had a great ride in life and you will forever be missed but not forgotten!

I’ve known my dear friend since we met at VQ-3 in 1984. Anyone who knew him knows he was a great man. I’ll miss playing golf with him and meeting up with him attending various sporting events that we did. My heartfelt condolences to the whole family. God bless and Rest In Peace my brother.
