Dear Steven -

Well, here I am again writing to you and thinking about you each and every day with a sense of grief, void and loss in my heart.  This will be the last words I write in your guest book, but the imprints you have left on my heart will never fade.  I miss your positive, can-do attitude, your brilliant smile, and all the joy and happiness you brought to your friends and family.  I will be talking with you again soon, not here in the guest book, but from my heart to yours.  Take care of yourself and Grandma Donna.  Love you forever and always, Kristee.

Not sure where to start in putting my thoughts into words, there are no words to describe the void we feel.  Not a day goes by that you aren't missed by so many people.  No one knew that night one year ago could bring so many tears & sadness.  Thank you for giving everyone so many fond memories of your smile & happy spirit.  You touched all of our lives in such a short period of time.  Dune trips, lake time, get togethers we know you are watching over us & here in spirit laughing at the riduclousness we get into.

It's still so hard to believe that you're gone and no longer with us.  I think about your contagious smile and laugh each and everyday.  I look at your picture and it reminds me just how short life is and what's really important in life.  We all learned alot from you when you were with us and now even though you're gone. To know you was to love you. The two years that you and Annie were together I was having some rough times. You and Annie and Connor were the bright spots in my life that kept me going. We always had fun doing just the ordinary  things. You were just the sweetest guy to all of us. We laughed and joked and had the best times. You would say you just need reasurance Ninny. I always would feel better after seeing you.I was wishing someday you and Annie would be married and I would have more grandchildren. You would have been a wonderful father. Stevo, there is no way to ever say that this is true I miss you everyday like crazy buddy. I miss walking into your house and you always saying whats up Big Gulps La Marcus or not even knowing that you are at the same party I could always hear your voice. From when we worked together at keller's to coming great friends and partying like crazy. From going to the dunes and the lake together, to party at your house or anyones house it was always a pleasure to see you.  i hope this note finds you well. just a quick note to let you know you are in my thoughts and heart. life is short and gets in the way, so time comes and goes. it seems just like yesterday you and nicholas where reeling in a fish at grandpa bills and grandma smith and fighting for control. hahahh you two where always so competive. memories of all you kids at grandpa and grandma voges all endless, from homemade ice cream ,popcorn,pepsi to slaming pool balls in the basement. watching you kids grow up together was pure joy. as time went  on and we grew older i wasnt always around, but on holidays we would catch up and it was good to see you cousins enjoyed hanging out together and catching up. it was cool to know you enjoyed concerts and i'll never forget at brad pasily hearing a voice yelling uncle, hey uncle! i turned and there you where. ha! a nice catch up conversation and before i left ask if needed a beer and you replyed i got it covered. that was in 2005, and the next big memory came in 2009 christmas garage party and all you kids singing sweet caroline and we are the campions to we will rock you. you all rock us that night. again life got in the way and it was thanksgivin 2010. i wish i knew you where a outdoorsman and camper, would of loved to had the rv out with you kids and traded a plase to crash for some water activty on the boats ect. it was good to know you enjoyed your friends and activitys, but also still enjoyed hanging with family. i will end this with my last fond memory, knowing you came home as a little boy and visting me and hali in your old room, wish i would have another nice catch up conversation.

For months I've been trying to find the right words to express how sorry I am for your loss … for the loss of our family.  They simply do not exist.  But words of gratitude do.  So thank you, Terri and Steve, for entrusting me with your sons and, in turn, giving me one of the greatest gifts of my life – quality time with my nephews.  Whether they were ordinary times spent at home or extraordinary ones on vacation, I hold these memories precious, now more so than ever – memories which help bring me comfort, as I hope they do you.

Steven Michael....

For some moments in life there are no words, nor are there meant to be.  For me, this is one of those moments, but I’ll do my best.

There are so many things I wanted to say to you and always thought I would have the time, but none more important than I’m proud of you – of the person you were and the glimpse of the man you were becoming: the child who found himself in his friends; who wasn’t afraid to take a risk; who had a talent for working with his hands; and who wore one of the most beautiful smiles I’ve ever seen – especially when it was directed my way.  

Knowing you, loving you has made me one of the luckiest people in the world and losing you, one of the saddest.  I know people survive this.  They do it everyday.  But what I don’t know is how.  That’s something I’m trying to learn … day by day and one step at a time.  I thought it would get easier.  But it hasn’t.  I thought I would grow stronger.  But I only seem to miss you more – so desperately and so permanently.  And now I’m faced with the fact that life isn’t quite as good without out you in the world and the realization that it never will be: you were that important, not only to me, but to so many other people.  I hope you knew that.  And I hope you knew how much you were loved by all of us because that is the mark of a life well-lived.  

It’s with an aching heart that I write the following words … words I never imagined possible and hope to never repeat:

Dear Steven,

It's been almost 4 months that you left us, but the pain still feels like yesterday.  I just wanted you to know I am forever and always thinking of you.  Not a day goes by that you don't cross my mind or your presence is somehow present in my life to remind me of you.  It may be as I walk by the refrigerator and one of your many pictures falls to the floor with the slightest breeze of my walking by, or just Sunday as I was getting ready for church, one of the songs on your dvd that your friends made was the one I woke up to and cried. Or, it may be a day when you are on my mind and I hear from Annie at that very moment.  You are so dear to me, so near to me, yet so far out of my reach for now.  I just want you to know that I miss you more and more every day and always will.  Just wanted you to know...your aunt Kristee.

        It’s hard to express how I feel now that you are gone. We sort of went our separate ways after high school, but we always came together during family gatherings. I don’t want to dwell on how we weren’t close during the last few years of your life. I want to remember how we were inseparable during our childhood between swimming at grandma and grandpa Voge’s pool, and going across the street to play baseball and play on the huge slides(not so huge now that we are grown. Ha ha) and going down stairs playing pool (well just throwing the balls across the table hitting them as hard as we could.)Can’t believe grandpa Voge didn’t tell us to shut up because we would get so loud.  I will always remember how competitive we were towards each other weather it was basketball in the neighbors drive-way or who could hold their breath the longest in the pool, and I will never forget the pool and ping pong tournament with Christopher as the announcer egging us on to try even harder like we were in going to win some big pries. We always wanted to win no matter what.  
        One of my fondest memories was when I wanted to lower my S-10 and you just said “bring it over to my parent’s house and we will figure it out.” Ha yea right we didn’t have a clue what we were doing.  We spent half the day lowering the back since it was the easiest to do,  and when we got to the front we didn’t have to tools nor the now how to do it so I had to drive across town lowered in the back and not in the front to get it done at a friend’s shop. It was just a good day shooting the bull and spending time with you.
        Now that you are gone the cousins will never be the same. In fact there will never be another cousin’s picture taken now that you won’t be in it. We will continue to take pictures because you know our family and pictures. But there won’t be one with just cousins, we all got together and agreed that it wouldn’t be right.  I’m just glad we had one last party in the garage. I don’t think anyone will forget it. Now that I have written a book, I need to wrap it up so,  I will never forget all the good times we had, you lived you life to the fullest your friends let us in on a whole new side of you we never knew about. I must say out of all the cousins you did it the biggest, if you wanted to do it no matter how crazy it was you did it. I love you Steven Michael you will never be forgotten.

Where do I start....well I have actually started this a few times.  It is so hard to say goodbye.  I just can't imagine you not around with "the cousins", we will never be the same! We all shared so many great memories growing up together and I will hold on tight to each and every one of them.  Swimming all day at Grandma and Grandpa Voge's pool and then going inside to have all we can eat popcorn and jelly beans (and we always gave Grandpa the black ones); babysitting you boys; swimming at your house as we got older...volleyball games; "the kids table" during the holidays we always had to sit at a different table than the grown ups....oh some of the conversations we all had and making faces to the rest of the family when they came by with flashing cameras....speaking of flashing camera's let's not forget about ALL the family pictures we had to take and how you used to complain so much about them...LOL I can hear you now "that's it one more" or "HAHA it's your families turn". I have to say I am so glad there are so many pictures now so I can cherish all the memories and your great smile :)  And some of the best memories I have are the "garage parties"....09 will be the best one ever! Wow what great memories!  I only wish I could have known you much better in your young adult years. I moved away 5 years ago and didn't keep the best contact with you and only got to see you during the holidays. I am so sorry for this, but I know I have to focus on all the wonderful memories I have of us growing up together. You were an amazing and talented person with a warm smile and you will be greatly missed.  I love you Steven Michael and I know you will be smiling down on our family and looking after us!

Steve, Terri & Kevin; There are so many times that we were with Steve that we our so blessed to have had. I remember Steve & Whitney working so hard on our lake cabin, Todd & I thought it would be fun to go to a Chief game and that day it was freezing we were all sick the next week, but we had so much fun. Our trips with the boys to Colorado and the Lake.

Steve, A favorite memory of you as soon as I would see you, you would look at me and tilt your head to the side waiting for me to ask if you were dating anyone and then we would laugh because you new I couldn't wait to ask you have a HEART OF GOLD and will be missed by me forever. My whole family will miss you!!!

Words cannot describe the the fun times from the past and the void we will all feel forever. The thing I will miss most is the smile you got from him sitting in his blue chair when you walked in his house. I hope we all can take something from him and apply it to our own lives. There is not a day that is going to go by without me thinking of you. We had so many good times together. I dont have as much time to play anymore raising the family in all but the good times wont be the same without you.

Steven, you will be missed by so many. I hope you help guide your family and friends through the tough times to come. I will personally miss walking you home one house over during the holidays and or just hearing the crazy stories about you from my mother. I always looked up to you because when we were younger we always talked about working for ourselves and you did it, not only that you were great at what you did. The cousins made a promise in your memory and I will personally try to make sure it always gets done. From the times of sitting on my lap, babysitting you and your brother, swimming in the summer at grandmas or your house, the holiday photo shoot and holidays, golfing, to all the amazing garage parties, I will think of you and your impact you made on life everyday. I love you cousin Steven and hope you look over everybody from time to time.

I went to school with Steven, and easily became friends with him right away, Last time I talked to him was on Superbowl Sunday , he told me he was going to come visit me in Florida, I hugged him and left. I worked with you at St Francis in the Daycare.  I am so sorry to hear of your son's passing.  You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Steve and Terri and Family,  Jay and  I are so upset about your lost. Steve was a great kid. Steve worked  at our new office building and my new home, in fact he was just here a couple weeks ago.  He was a great  trim carpenter. Sweetest man you could ever meet.  Such a hugh lost for everyone.
