Troy L. Welch, age 85, retired assembler with Accessories Inc., passed away Thursday, September 10, 2020. Troy was born on January 25, 1935, in Romance, Missouri, the son of the late Floyd V. and Esther Pearl (Loftis) Welch. Growing up, Troy attended school and graduated high school in Missouri. On October 31, 1951 he married Deloris Gladys (VanNess). Shortly after marriage, the couple moved to Wichita, Kansas. To this union they were blessed with three boys, Troy Duane, David Wayne, and Daniel Leroy. Troy loved playing country/western music on guitar and fishing. Troy is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 64 years, Deloris; son, David Welch; brother, Donald Ray Welch, sisters, Normalea Nadine Cantrell and Vonnell Marie Rippee. Survivors include: sons, Troy Duane and wife, Cindy Welch, Peck, Daniel Leroy Welch, Wichita; brother Floyd Welch, Seymour, MO; sister, Connie Rippee, Marshfield, MO; grandchildren, Jason and wife, Tammy Welch, Traci Plinsky, Staci and husband, Jason Henry, Pete and wife, Tia Welch, David and wife, Felicia Welch, Michael Welch, Twila Welch; 18 great grandchildren. Visitation 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 16, with family present; funeral service 10:00 a.m. Thursday, both at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 W. Highway 54, Wichita. Graveside service will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Wichita. A memorial has been established with American Cancer Society, 236 Topeka Street, Wichita, Kansas 67202. I remember when Troy and Delores would visit during the Seymour Apple Festival and a bunch of family would hang out at Art and Gertie's to play music. My Mom (Normalea) enjoyed those times and it is now a great memory for me.
