

Hamm, Virgil Marshal, died October 29, 2011 at the age of 95 at the Good Samaritan Home in Hays, KS. He was born July 23, 1916 in Eastern Kansas. On a farm outside of Redfield, KS, he started off with his own business as a mechanic. Virgil moved to Wichita in 1939, where he was a supervisor at Boeing, as an Engineer for 32 years. He was caring, and very smart. Virgil built the first CB but never patented it. In his younger years, his hobbies included fishing, working on cars, TV’s, VCR’s and clocks. If anyone would need something fixed he would try to get it working for them. Visitation: 4-7 p.m. Tuesday; service 10 a.m. Wednesday, both at Hillside Funeral Home East Chapel. Virgil is preceded in death by his wives, Dora and Millie; his son, Wayne Hamm; his brother, Loy Hamm; his sister, Ruby, both from Colorado. He is survived by his twin sisters, Loris Wilson, Uniontown, KS, Doris Mason, Ft. Scott, KS, and his brother, Ben Hamm, Howard, KS; his son, Virgil Lynn Hamm (that shared a birthday with him) and his wife, Allura, Hays, KS; daughter-in-law, Marleen Hamm, Wichita; grandchildren, Brenda Epperson, Owasso, OK., Nikki Hamm, Enid, OK., Julia Kuntz, Hays, KS., Sharlett Goforth, Seattle, WA.,Kurt Hamm, Wichita, Lisa Fitzmorris, Lafayette, IN., 11 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren.
