

Nance, Waldo W., 84, was called to be with his savior, parents and brother on Sat. Jan. 1, 2011. Waldo was born, Jan 2, 1927 in Muskogee, OK to Sam and Myrtle Nance. The family moved to Wichita in 1935, where he attended school. He graduated from East High School in Dec. of 1944. He joined the Navy on Dec. 27, 1944 and served until July 8, 1946. He went to school in Neb. to become a Railroad Agent Telegrapher. He worked for Missouri Pacific Railroad from Feb 1949 to March 1951. He was called back to the service on May 23, 1951 and was released in Sept. 1952. Following his departure from the Navy, he returned to his job as an Agent Telegrapher for the M.P. Railroad. He retired from this position in 1988 after serving nearly 40 years. He married Louise Burling on Sept. 9, 1956. They lived in Wellington and Argonia for about five years, then in Kingman for 10 years. In 1972 they were transferred to Wichita. He is preceded in death by his parents: Sam and Myrtle Nance and a brother, Sam Eugene Nance. He is survived by his wife, Louise of 54 years and a son, Rodney (Companion, Mary White) and a daughter, Rhonda Janzen (Chad) all of Wichita, 3 grandchildren, Autumn Nance (mother is Erica Nance), Carly and Chase Janzen all of Wichita. A brother Harold Edwin Nance (Dolores) of Altadena, CA and sister-in-law Alla Rebia Nance of Wichita and eleven nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. Visitation is Wed. 6 to 8 and funeral service is 3:00 Thursday, Jan. 6 at Resthaven Mortuary. Memorials may be sent to Kansas Humane Society or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.
