Walter N. Henning

Walter graduated from Zenda High School and went on to build a career as an Aviation Machinist. He was proud to be part of the International Avionic Machinists union, bringing diligence and reliability to his work and to those who worked alongside him.

A man of enduring faith and quiet commitment, Walter was a founding member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. His charitable spirit also extended to causes close to his heart, including St. Jude Children's Hospital, Boys Town, and the Knights of Columbus—communities where service, fellowship, and compassion were lived out in practical ways.

Walter was preceded in death by his father, Louis Henning; his mother, Elizabeth Soellner; and his first wife, Delphine Schmitz. He is survived by his spouse, Doreen Henning; his children, Debbie Eaton (John), Betty McKenzie (Dan), Cyndi Henning, James Henning, David Henning, Lisa Morgan (David), and Charles Henning (Nancy); his grandchildren, Tom, Desirae, Jennifer, Valerie, Sara, Melanie, Ashley, Roy, Christa, Travis, Tyler, Emily, Dale, Michael, Mary, Andy, Derek, and Lance; and 18 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. He also leaves behind Doreen's children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 861 N Socora St, Wichita, KS 67212, on July 10, 2026, from 9:30 am to 10:00 am, followed by a Rosary from 10:00 am to 10:30 am. A Mass will begin at 10:30 am at the church. Committal Service will take place at Saint Peter's Cemetery, 10044 SW 90th St., Willowdale, KS 67159, on July 10, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
