Weldon M. “Sam” Dowdy, 88, Navy Veteran and retired sheet metal mechanic for Boeing, passed away Jan. 27th, 2016. He is preceded in death by parents, Macon and Maudie Dowdy; brothers, Golder, Junior, Robert and Buddy Dowdy; sisters, Ozella Bailey and Audrey Williamson, and grandsons; Shane McCutcheon and Michael Hollingshad. He is survived by wife, Mary Dowdy; daughters, Cheryl (Allan) Rupp, Pam (James) Edgar, Wanda Mork, and Deborah Warren; son, Jerry Dowdy; grandchildren, Becky (Jeff) Joslin, Connie Culver, Jason Rinke, Samuel Dowdy, Alan Dowdy; and great-grandchildren, Dixie Dowdy, and Makayla and Zackery Joslin; as well as nephew, Danny (Betty) Williamson. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and he will be dearly missed. Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Fri. Jan. 30th, 2016 at Resthaven Mortuary Chapel. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
