William "Bill" David Arnold

Bill was born July 22, 1943, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, to Robert A. and Ruby (Davis) Arnold. He grew up with a deep love of sport, competition, and community, values that would come to define his life's work. He graduated from Stillwater High School in 1961, earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Central State University, and later a Master's degree from Pittsburgh State University.

In 1967, Bill married the love of his life, Mary Linda (Weir) Arnold also of Stillwater. Their partnership of nearly 59 years was the cornerstone of everything he built.

Bill devoted 32 years of his professional life to public education as a physical education teacher and coach, serving students and families in Moline, Garden City, and Wichita, Kansas. He was far more than a teacher. He was a mentor, motivator, and steady presence for countless young people. His coaching shaped not only athletes, but character. Those who passed through his gyms and playing fields carry his lessons still.

A lifelong and passionate Oklahoma State University Cowboys fan, Bill's orange and black pride never wavered. Whether cheering from the stands or from his living room, he was always a Cowboy at heart.

Bill is survived by his wife, Mary Linda (Weir) Arnold (80), of Wichita; his brother, Robert J. Arnold (85), of Stillwater, Oklahoma; his daughter, Teri Meloy (57) and her husband Mike Brocious, of Grand Island, Florida; his son, Jon Arnold (54) and his wife Chrystal Pochay of Boulder, Colorado and his sister-in-law, Cindy Pulley (70), of Elgin, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert A. and Ruby (Davis) Arnold, and his older sister, Barbara Jean (Arnold) Coltharp.

Bill Arnold lived a life of purpose, loyalty, and quiet strength. He gave generously of himself, to his students, his family, and his community, and leaves behind a legacy measured not in accolades, but in the lives he touched.
