Loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather Bill Bothner was born August 22, 1931, in New Rockford, North Dakota to Eugene and Esther Bothner, Cathay, ND. After graduating from Cathay High School, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and stationed in France during the Korean conflict.
Bill attended college in Bismarck, ND where he received his accounting degree. It was there that he met and married Jeanette Jenner of Ashley, ND. They married on August 5, 1956, and together raised a family and celebrated more than 68 years of marriage. In 1971, the family moved from Savage, Minnesota to Wichita where Bill began his employment with Koch Industries. He retired from Koch in 1996 after 36 years. He was a 54-year member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife Jeanette, daughter Julie Koehler (Kent), son Jim (Vera); four grandchildren, Jeremy Koehler (Audrey), Andrew Koehler, Hannah Bothner (Jake Jones), Jace Bothner and two great-granddaughters; brother Eugene Bothner, brother-in-law Jeffery Jenner (Dawn), many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Esther Bothner.
Bill was a kind, funny, dedicated and hard-working man who, along with Jeanette, created a legacy of family and friends. He enjoyed many hobbies, including golf, yard work and photography. He will be missed by the many lives he touched throughout his life, including the caring staff at Presbyterian Manor and Good Shepherd Hospice.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 11 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church or Good Shepherd Hospice Foundation.
