William "Bill" Elton Mackey

William "Bill" Elton Mackey, 79, retired USAF and KANG MSgt, passed away September 28, 2018. Bill was born on October 31, 1938 to Roy and Ruth Mackey in Jasper, MO. He was a Vietnam and Desert Storm veteran having served in the Military for over 20 years, 12 years in the Air Force, and then 8 years in the Air National Guard. During his 12 years in the Air Force he was stationed at Okinawa for 18 months, Germany for 3 years, Panama City, FL (Tyndall AFB) for 3 years, Thailand for 1 year, Italy for 2 years and Oklahoma City (Tinker AFB) for 16 months. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roger Mackey; niece, Glenna Mackey; and great nephew, Landon Weng. Bill is survived by his wife of 54 years, Anna Lois; sons, Brian (Jerri) Mackey and Bruce Mackey; grandchildren, Cody Mackey, Allison Mackey, Austin Mackey and Collin Mackey; great grandchild, Samuel Mackey; sister, Barbara Yoes; nieces, Debra Marsh, Brenda Lair and Michelle Swarts and nephew, Milas Yoes. Funeral service will be held at Resthaven Mortuary on Wednesday, October 3 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Country Acres Baptist Church (8810 W. 10th St. N., Wichita, KS 67212) or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice (313 S. Market St., Wichita, KS 67202).
