William “Bill” Alan Todd, 81, passed away peacefully at home on July 3, 2026, surrounded by his loving wife, Shirley, and their children.
Bill was born on July 23,1944, to Arden Archer Todd and Virginia Inscho Todd.
He grew up in Independence Kansas and graduated from Independence High School where he was known as the "blond bomber" on the basketball team. He then continued his education and love for basketball at Independence Junior Community College where his team went on to win the National Championship in 1963. He later went on to graduate from Wichita State University with a degree in Business Education/Accounting. He enlisted in the Army National Guard to serve the country that he loved and soon after was deployed to Vietnam.
Bill and Shirley were high school sweethearts and were married in 1965. Together they shared 61 years of love, devotion, and partnership. Through life's blessings and challenges, they built a home grounded in faith, family, and a deep commitment to one another. Their marriage was a wonderful example of enduring love and friendship, and the family they built together was one of Bill's greatest joys.
He dedicated more than 30 years of his professional life to Wescon Products in Wichita, Kansas. Beginning in the warehouse, his strong work ethic, integrity, and leadership led him to become President of the company's plastics division. His career reflected the values that defined his life: perseverance, humility, and a commitment to providing for his family.
Bill loved his family. He enjoyed family vacations, golfing, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Some of his favorite moments were spent with his “best friend” Memphis, and trips to Branson with family and friends. He was also an avid Oklahoma Sooners fan who rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on OU.
His legacy is one of unwavering faith, generous love, and steadfast devotion to his family. He will be remembered for his servant's heart, his integrity, his enduring example of hard work, and the countless lives he touched through his kindness and faith. He considered it a privilege to give and found fulfillment in helping others succeed and thrive. Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing he is in his eternal home with Jesus. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Judy. Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley; sister Joan Todd; children, Alecia Frederick (Doug), Kyndra Eicher (Pete), and Michael Todd (Amber); grandchildren, Braydi Hishmeh (James), Noah Frederick (Sydney), Carson Eicher (Kyra), Kinsley Eicher, Braylon Todd, Piper Todd, Jaxon Todd, Kooper Todd, and Kodi Todd; and his great-grandchild, Jaylin Joy Hishmeh.
