Winifred Irene Cox

COX, WINIFRED IRENE, (Wini), age 92, widow of Gerald E. Cox, passed away on Saturday, September, 12, 2015, at Tanbark Rehabilitation Center in Lexington, KY. She was the daughter of Ralph and Cecil Gillenwater who preceded her in death. Wini was born November 6, 1922 in the farmlands near Rose Hill, Kansas. She attended schools in Rose Hill where she met her late husband, Gerald, and they relocated to Wichita. She retired from the Boeing Company in Wichita following a twenty eight year career. In Wichita, she was a charter member of East Heights Methodist Church. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her youngest daughter Caryl Kay Woodall and her grandson, William Jeffrey Madden. She is survived by her daughter Donna Madden (William), Lexington, KY; her brother Jimmie D. Gillenwater (Bettie), Wichita, KS; son-in-law J. G. Woodall, Draper, UT; grandchildren Melissa Setters (Mark) Lexington, KY; Donna Kroff (Mike) Cedar City, UT; Heather Kim (Todd) Draper, UT; Whitney Slobodian (Evan) Huntington Beach, CA; eleven great grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday, Sept. 21, 2015, from 7:30 to 9:30, at Lakeview Funeral Home. A celebration of life is planned at 2:00 pm, on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Wichita followed by internment at Lakeview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests your donations to East Heights Methodist Church in Wichita or to the charity of your choice.
